Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxyl acid derived from bitter almonds but is less irritating to the skin compared to Glycolic acid. It has a larger molecular weight that sits on the surface of the skin and gently exfoliates without irritating the skin. Mandelic acid accelerates cell turnover and functions as a powerful exfoliate to remove dead skin cells.
